I am a 45-year-old college professor whose “burning passion” for classic film began when — at the age of 8 — I wandered away from a birthday party at Shakey’s Pizza Parlor and found myself in the back room where the management was projecting silent comedies on the wall. Needless to say, I was hooked — and my friends almost left me behind. I would not have minded in the least.
